Not!

Spent all day trying to get a good shot of this woodpecker. I finally got a few that at least showed his color. Then we looked him up in the bird book.

Turns out, he's not a woodpecker at all. He's a Red-Shafted Northern Flicker. Who knew??

Blurry

I had a hard time waking up this morning.

And I felt blurry all day, kind of like the picture I took of Venus and the crescent moon last night.

Tonight wasn't much better.

Frozen

This is my better half's latest experiment. All it takes is a fountain and a birdbath heater. And really cold temperatures.

It helps if you own an ornamental concrete business, so you can replace the fountain when it falls apart.

Caliente!

This pepper plant is a transplant from my garden last summer.

I had two jalepeno plants. They refused to grow. Absolutely refused. They were about 5 inches tall with a couple of leaves when I bought them and they were 5 inches tall with a couple of leaves when I took them out in the fall.

I threw one away, but I took this guy in and planted him in an empty pot I had on my table. You could almost see him relax as soon as he was planted.

And now it looks as if I may get jalapenos! I just need to be the bee.

This is a picture of another plant. It's an ornamental pepper. It has peppers all year.

Thaw

This was taken a few weeks ago. Lately the temperatures have been in the teens and single digits. This reminds me there is hope for spring.

This is my first post on my first blog. This has to be one of the scariest things I've ever done. Isn't this the most beautiful place on earth? How lucky am I to live here? Another scariest thing I've ever done.
