Looks kind of like an octopus... And can you believe the snow piled up on those tiny branches?
Happy Anniversary, Honey!

Lite Brite
Part of the neighbor's Christmas decorations. The train engine fell down, so all I could get a picture of was the cars.

Rain on the Windshield
There was a mix of clouds and blue sky when we headed to the lake for a photo yesterday. We thought maybe we could get a shot of the eagles at Higgins Point. Apparently, so did hundreds of others. By the time we got to the end of the road, there were no parking places to be found and the downpour had started.

The Snowman
This is my favorite (and this year, only) Christmas decoration, given to us by my sister-in-law a few years back. And if you look closely, you can see our tiny Christmas tree behind him.

Clouds on the Moon
No photo of the eclipse, but I did get this cool shot of the clouds in front of the moon at moonrise tonight.

Long Nights Moon
Winter Solstice 2010. The longest night of the year.
From this point forward, the days are getting longer. I'm really thankful for that.

Sideshow Bob
Sideshow, in his new home, guarded by the Ram Gargoyle.
The snow had all melted, then yesterday we got a couple of inches and now I think it's supposed to snow some every day until Christmas. I'm glad. I want a white Christmas.

Blue Sky
Ignore the wires (I know it's not easy) - isn't that a gorgeous sky?
Yesterday was a hectic day, so I grabbed this shot at lunch. More snow is expected this weekend. I have to enjoy that sky while I can.

Ringer
ring•er –noun
Slang . a racehorse, athlete, or the like entered in a competition under false representation as to identity or ability.
Him: "I don't want to play Scrabble with you. I'm not a very good speller."
At the end of game one the score was 311 to 247 and I was on the losing end. The rematch was 232 to 220 and I lost that one too.

Three Crosses
I took this on the way home from photo club. The light looked really cool behind the crosses, but I wasn't able to capture it. This was handheld at night using high ISO.

Flags at Night
Seen while waiting for the parade to start. The parade where they didn't bother to shut down the street. How can you have a parade on one side of the street & traffic on the other? Lame.

Frozen Berries
On this last day of November, four to eight inches of snow are predicted. If we get just 4.2 inches, we will have achieved the snowiest November on record.

Hayden Lake
The title of today’s post was going to be Gloomy Day, because that’s what it was. There was no sign of the sun; the sky was overcast and threatening snow all day. So I drove out to the lake to get some shots at lunch.
But now, as I look at this photo, that’s not what comes to mind.
There is awe at the beauty of the nature, delight at the sprinkling of powdered sugar snow on the mountains and thankfulness that fate brought me to this most beautiful place on earth to live at this point in my life.
But not gloomy. Not gloomy at all.

Bounty for the Birds
I noticed this tree on my way home a few days ago. The day I had no battery in my camera. After the winds we had the other night, every other tree like it in the area was stripped of all their leaves. I wasn't hopeful this one would still look as pretty, but I was pleasantly surprised. The birds will be glad of this tree and all it's cousins when the snow comes.

Sheep
I saw the sheep on my way home at lunch. They were right next to the fence and I had my camera so I stopped. I got out and whistled to get their attention, their heads all shot up and they looked right at me. It was the perfect shot - if only I'd remembered to put my battery back in my camera this morning when I loaded the camera into it's bag. By the time I ran home, got my battery and got back to the field, the sheep had moved away from the fence. And when I whistled, they ignored me and continued eating. When I yelled "Hey!" they ran away. So this is what you get. A photo of sheep butts.
