On this last day of November, four to eight inches of snow are predicted. If we get just 4.2 inches, we will have achieved the snowiest November on record.

Hayden Lake
The title of today’s post was going to be Gloomy Day, because that’s what it was. There was no sign of the sun; the sky was overcast and threatening snow all day. So I drove out to the lake to get some shots at lunch.
But now, as I look at this photo, that’s not what comes to mind.
There is awe at the beauty of the nature, delight at the sprinkling of powdered sugar snow on the mountains and thankfulness that fate brought me to this most beautiful place on earth to live at this point in my life.
But not gloomy. Not gloomy at all.

Bounty for the Birds
I noticed this tree on my way home a few days ago. The day I had no battery in my camera. After the winds we had the other night, every other tree like it in the area was stripped of all their leaves. I wasn't hopeful this one would still look as pretty, but I was pleasantly surprised. The birds will be glad of this tree and all it's cousins when the snow comes.

After the Storm
We had rain and ferocious winds, but the next morning, the sky was incredible.

Sheep
I saw the sheep on my way home at lunch. They were right next to the fence and I had my camera so I stopped. I got out and whistled to get their attention, their heads all shot up and they looked right at me. It was the perfect shot - if only I'd remembered to put my battery back in my camera this morning when I loaded the camera into it's bag. By the time I ran home, got my battery and got back to the field, the sheep had moved away from the fence. And when I whistled, they ignored me and continued eating. When I yelled "Hey!" they ran away. So this is what you get. A photo of sheep butts.

Lexi & Scott
We've had Lexi for over six months now and she's refused to jump up on the bed. Que can do it, and he's about half her size. There was no convincing her - she wouldn't even try, not for food, treats or chewies. It was really annoying, because she could jump down, and did all the time. Then she'd come back & stand next to the bed and whine.
Until this weekend, when Scott used a couple of pillows and spent about 20 minutes with her. Somehow, he convinced her that she could do it and now she's jumping up and down without hesitation. Way to go, Scott!

November Sky
It was one year ago today that I lost my mom. I still miss her every day.
If your mom is still around, hug her today for me. Tell her how much she means to you. That's the best way I can think of to honor my mom.

Scrabble
I spent the weekend playing a wicked game of online Scrabble with good friends in Oregon & Utah. I'm losing, badly, but having a great time.

Do Not Enter
What do you do when your child decides to follow the wrong path? What do you do when that child is an adult?
I'll tell you. Nothing. And it's the hardest thing you'll ever do.
You tell them you love them. You tell them you'll always be there for them. And then you watch them go down the path they've chosen.
You can offer to help, knowing it may be refused. You can give advice, knowing it will probably be discarded.
But mostly, you worry. And watch. And wait. Wait for the inevitable. For the disaster you know is coming.
It's not for sissies, this parenthood.
That's for sure.

Sunshine Through Leaves
This is the sun. I took a photo because I want to remember what it looks like. After tomorrow, we're not going to see it again for a while.
