Floors

I went with Scott to a training class on concrete overlays for floors today. It was really interesting. These are some of the samples we made, and some made by others.

Hearts

Some heart shaped rocks from my collection. Some are more "heart shaped" than others.

Clogs

These are the clogs that my grandmother wore when she immigrated to America.

You can still see where she wrote her name (Emma Knorr), the year (1911) and Germany.

Look at the workmanship... They're 98 years old!

The light was amazing when I got off work tonight.

Or maybe I was just amazed there was light at all.

Shells

I got this tiger cowrie shell from my grandmother. I know it looks like the picture is out of focus, but it's not. That's the way the spots look on the shell.

This is a tiger cowrie I picked up somewhere during my travels. It's a little smaller than Grandma's.

Here they are together. They're on a bookshelf that was also Grandma's.

Grandma would be 119...

Treasure

A friend from work gave me this little treasure yesterday. (Thanks Linda!) It was in a box of antiques and she thought of me when she saw it.

I need to find out what it was used for. Measuring chemicals for the chemical baths, I imagine. It was such a thoughtful gift!

The robins were out again today. I remain hopeful for spring.

Robins

There were robins all over the yard, in the trees and in the fountains today. Spring can't be far behind...

We went for a walk today around the lake. It was so nice to see the sun.

Ballet

Bird Ballet

Local wisdom says you don't plant your garden until the snow is off Rathdrum Mountain. Looks like it's a long time until spring.

Sweet

Happy Valentines Day!

It tried to snow here today.

We found other ways to amuse ourselves.

Workstation

I took my camera to work with me this morning. I wanted to get some pictures during daylight. I thought it would be less depressing.

I was wrong.

Aahhhh... That's better. This was taken during lunch.

And can you believe this enormous cat was once the runt of the litter? Yeah, me neither.

Roosters

Considering how stupid I think chickens are, it's a little disturbing how many of them I have in my kitchen.

Where did all the roosters come from?

This one looks ready to attack.

This one just looks stupid.

You lookin' at me?!?!
