The Man In The Tree

Seen at City Park.
This is Saturday's post, a bit premature.
We're heading out for a road trip early tomorrow morning.
Be back in a few days - hopefully with some photos to share.
Here's hoping March comes in like a lamb.

Yellow Orb

It snowed and rained today and I took some photos of the raindrops.
While processing them in Photoshop,
I noticed there were some hairs on my lens.
It seemed to show up when I was shooting at a light source,
so I aimed my camera up at the light on the
ceiling in the office and this was the result.
I thought it looked kind of cool,
and I wasn't happy with the way I'd photoshopped
the hair out of my pictures, so this is what you get today.

The Fish that hangs on the Wall

Scott caught it on a family trip to Mexico when he was a kid.

Now it hangs in the shop over the door, gathering dust.

It's kind of creepy....

The sky was the most incredible blue.
This photo showed it the best.

Blue Sky

Yesterday was such a gorgeous day,
we closed the shop early
and went for a drive above Fernan Lake.
I took a bunch of photos
and this is the only one where the sky wasn't blown.
We're going back out today so I can try again.

Flags & Peeps

The weather has turned almost spring-like the last few days.
Blue skies, puffy white clouds and just a hint of a breeze.
Made for a nice shot of the flags through the pillars at work.
And Peeps. Just a few days after Valentines Day.
Look at the colors!

Steven's Moon

Any of you that have followed this blog know about my love affair with the moon. And even though I don’t really have the proper equipment to get a really great shot, I just keep trying. And (as my friend LM would say) we all suffer.

New Year’s Eve was a full moon – a blue moon – one of those rare occurrences (every three years or so) when we have two full moons in one calendar month. I was looking forward to it – I could just see the New Year’s post: Blue Moon. Only the North Idaho weather did not cooperate. It was cloudy with only glimpses of the moon through the clouds. A friend from work, traveling to visit family in Montana, saw it and reported back to me: It was a beautiful huge moon, reflected off the water in the river she was driving next to. I was green with envy.

Then came New Year’s Day and the news that Steven (my nephew) had been killed, and somehow in my mind, that got all tangled up with the blue moon. Steven was killed on a blue moon, and so, the moon made me sad. Every time I looked at it, I thought of Steven and the blue moon and I wondered if I would ever want to take a photo of the moon again.

Until tonight. I walked outside and there it was, a little sliver of a moon – hardly worth noticing – certainly not worth a photo. Except it looked a little like it was smiling at me – Steven’s crooked smile. And I smiled right back, and then stopped and took my camera out and took a photo of the smiling moon. Steven’s moon.

And if that didn't make you smile,
I hope this does.

Stinkus & Smudge

Scott filled the bird feeder and
put some birdseed on top of the gargoyle's head.
Stinkus went out and ate the birdseed.
This cat needs to be put on a diet.
And then there's Smudge.
He spent the day laying on my bed.

It's been a while since we've seen these guys...

And this shot, just because I'm obsessed with seed pods.

Glass Angel...

And other items seen at the Hospice auction...
Isn't she beautiful?!?

Wow.

And this guy was outside,
part of a mining metal sculpture
on the walls of the Country Club.

I took pictures of his brothers,
but they all looked like Freddy Kruger.

The Road

We went for a drive around Hayden Lake.
I was surprised at all the color,
given the fog & rain/snow mix that was falling.

And this? I just liked the look of it.
